Some 4×4 Action
1967 K10 SWB
She is 1 out of 1,046 for 1967
My love for restoring and building trucks never ends, I only wish there were 48 hours in a day…
So, Here is another truck I hope to complete before my age gets the best of me.. hahaha
The history for Park Service is really simple actually. The truck was originally purchased by the National Park Service back on 1967, and served until it was retired sometime in the early nineties. From what I gathered, it was used as is until it finally stopped running in late 2005. She was parked behind a gas station where mother nature did her best to grow up and around here from every direction.
Apparently, the original bed was pretty much toast to the next owner swapped over to a stepside bed. She never got back on the road, but was slightly cannibalized for some of her front sheet metal and engine. Along came the gentleman that I ended up purchasing her from, he rescued her from the scrapper and began giving her some love. He outfitted her with a 68 nose and doors from an anniversary edition, then had a small block rebuilt. He lost interest since for him, there was to much rust and restoration to do.
I grabbed onto her since I knew already that factory short bed K10’s were pretty rare in 1967.. According to the production numbers I found online, GM produced the following:
1/2 Ton – Model K – Series 10 – 115 in wheelbase
Model Number – KS10734
Body Type – Fleetside 6.5 ft.
Factory Price – $3,051
Total Production – 1,046
Plans are to make her a reliable and complete essentially original truck with a few personal touches..
Here are details from the SPID:
Serial number – KS147Z160750
Paint – 04514AA
Model – KS10734 W/B – 115
